Sundance Romantic Dining, The Tree Room
75The Tree Room- Earth, Nature, Creativity
Rustic elegance in a casual atmosphere is what you will find when you choose to eat at The Tree Room at the Robert Redford owned Sundance Resort in Sundance, Utah. Situated in the beautiful Wasatch Mountains of Utah at the base of Mount Timpanogos, The Tree Room is more than just fine dining, it is an experience. The resort holds true to its mission of balancing earth, nature, and creativity in a graceful way.
The Tree Room was built around a tree.
The Tree Room is an unique experience all year long.
The Sundance Resort is open all four seasons of the year, and each season offers a uniquely beautiful adventure. Although winter is probably the most popular time, because of the fantastic snow activities offered, I believe that the fall proves to reveal spectacular scenery which is simply unimaginable. The beautiful colors of the changing leaves on the trees makes the drive through the canyon on the way to The Tree Room an indescribable journey in itself.
The Tree Room is a work of art.
Upon arrival, the restaurant has a warm feel to it, as it is decorated in rich earthy tones and adorned with beautiful pieces of artwork. A large Navajo rug is hung on the wall, and is accented with an amazing Kachina collection which is on display, all the while your attention is drawn to the vintage photos of Robert Redford’s films throughout. The most noticeable attraction however, is that the restaurant is built around a large tree. You can also look out of the large windows and enjoy a picturesque view of the fir trees surrounding the restaurant too. The Tree Room is a perfect name for this eatery. Robert Redford explains that “Sundance is a mixture of old and new, lush and spare, sophisticated and primitive-like art itself.”

Environmentally conscious, The Tree Room is green friendly.
The Tree Room falls under the same standard as the Sundance Resort itself, in that, every day is a green day. Since the inception of the resort, Robert Redford has always taken his environmental stewardship of the land seriously and has implemented many techniques and technologies to stay at the forefront of that area of focus. I know just the place for you to dine. It is called The Tree Room. Nestled among the mountains up Provo's breathtaking canyon, The Tree Room is Roberts favorite place to dine at among his utterly famous baby: Sundance. - Gastronomic Salt Lake City Sundance: great views, great food, great wine
The Tree Room, named for the actual native tree around which it is built, did not disappoint. The dining room, which glows with warmth, features pieces from Robert Redfords own Native American art collection.

The Tree Room Pepper Steak
The Tree Room food is amazing!
Having visited the Sundance Resort many times I have enjoyed many a sumptuous meal in the Tree Room restaurant. The food becomes art at the hands of Chef Jesse Moreno. My dining experience included freshly baked rolls, and an appetizer salad. The Tree Room Pepper Steak is one of my favorite entrees and I have never been disappointed with the Pan Roasted Halibut either. If you are up for something out of the ordinary you might like to try the Buffalo Tenderloin. Make sure to leave some room for dessert because the dessert menu is to die for. I love the Warm Chocolate Truffle Cake topped with ice cream because I am a total chocolate lover.

The great thing about dining at The Tree Room is that even though it is an elegant occasion, the dress code allows for Jeanswear too. I call that comfortable elegance! The price for an entrée ranges between $28 -$42, a little pricey but so worth it. Make sure you call for reservations because The Tree Room is one popular place, especially during the weekends and holidays.

That must be a fantastic experience. Thank you for sharing.
Ah this brings back memories. My husband worked at Sundance Resort in the Desktop Publications department one summer when he was in grad school at BYU, about 15 years ago. I have fond memories of watching theater in the pines (I think that is the name of their outdoor theater). Of course they are much more exclusive now that independent films are such a craze and Hollywood has discovered it, but still a beautiful resort for a summer hike, theater-going experience, or even acting workshops. Thanks for bringing this back to my memory. :)
